Cartagena’s architecture, culture, history and people define this old fortressed city. I walk past the home of Gabriel García Márquez, dreaming of Love in the Time of Cholera. The summer heat is all consuming as I travel down the narrow, winding cobblestone streets seeking my own inspiration. Casa nº 3, a small home on a side street, captures my attention. The door's design, color and distressed lion knocker tell me without entering that someone of importance to this community, someone with standing, someone with style, lived here hundreds of years ago. But among an array of colorful doors and elaborate knockers, this door is not seeking to be noticed. Only those who prefer to travel their own path would ever find it and experience its classic beauty. Here, at Casa nº 3, I have found the inspiration for Sandra Cadavid.
